Cause and Manner of Death of 11 US Nuclear Scientists Remain Undetermined
Law enforcement authorities in the U.S. state of New Mexico have recently uncovered the remains of Melissa Casias, a scientist affiliated with the Los Alamos National Laboratory, known for her work on nuclear weapons-related research, according to an official statement released by the New Mexico State Police.
The police confirmed, “New Mexico State Police have positively identified the remains as those of Melissa Casias, a woman from Taos who had been reported missing.” However, they emphasized that the cause and manner of her death remain undetermined at this time, pending further investigation.
Forensic experts are scheduled to perform additional, detailed examinations on the recovered remains to help clarify the circumstances surrounding her death. Notably, law enforcement officials also reported the discovery of a handgun found in close proximity to the remains, which may play a significant role in the ongoing investigation.
