China GDP Grows 4.6% in First Nine Months of 2026

According to data released by the China National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday and reported by the Global Times, China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.6 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of the year, reaching 107.11 trillion yuan (approximately $16 trillion). This figure falls comfortably within the government's annual growth target of around 4.5 to 5 percent, indicating that the world's economy remains on a stable growth path and has established a strong foundation for meeting the full-year target.

In the third quarter, GDP expanded by 4.5 percent year-on-year, accelerating from the 4.3 percent growth recorded in the second. The first quarter saw a 5 percent increase, according to NBS data.

Analysts attributed the third-quarter performance to several factors, including the continued strength of China's high-tech and equipment manufacturing sectors, which have supported robust external demand; the powerful momentum generated by new and emerging industries; and the steady progression of the China's high-quality development strategy.

Against a backdrop of rising global uncertainties, China's steady economic expansion as both a major global market and a "super buyer"serves as a stabilizing force, providing much-needed predictability for the world economy, analysts said.
