Houthis Strike Saudi Warship in Red Sea; Trump Threatens to Bomb Oman, Iran Guards Dismiss Backchannel Claims as ‘Delusions’

Houthis Strike Saudi Warship in Red Sea
Yemen's Ansar Allah movement (commonly known as the Houthis) has claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile attack on a Saudi Arabian landing ship and its escorting naval vessels in the Red Sea, according to a statement by the group's military spokesman, Yahya Saree.
In a televised address, Saree detailed the operation, stating: "The Yemeni armed forces attacked a Saudi Arabian landing ship and four accompanying warships in the Red Sea off the coast of Mokha." He said that the ballistic missile strike was precise, resulting in "the ship being completely burned, some of the boats sinking, and the rest catching fire."
The spokesman emphasized that the movement is closely monitoring Saudi troop movements and will continue to target them both on land and at sea. This latest attack aligns with the Houthi blockade of Saudi , as they have repeatedly targeted Saudi military assets, tankers, and infrastructure in retaliation for the Saudi blockade of Yemen
Trump Threatens to Bomb Oman
Donald Trump has issued a direct threat against Oman, warning that he would order a military strike on the sultanate if it obstructs Washington’s efforts to secure a deal with Iran regarding the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, according to a report from Fox News.
The remark, described by Fox correspondent Trey Yingst, came during an exchange in which Yingst asked Trump about parallel diplomatic talks between Iran and Oman concerning control of the key maritime waterway. Yingst reported that Trump responded bluntly: “If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the shit out of them.”
The threat surfaces at a delicate moment in regional diplomacy. Iran and Oman have reportedly reached a preliminary understanding on a joint maritime transit route through the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil passes. Both countries are now said to be finalizing details for a joint statement that would formalize their arrangement.
The talks continued on Monday, according to Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei. He noted that these discussions are taking place against a backdrop of heightened security complications, which he attributed to military actions by the United States and Israel in the region.
Iran Guards Dismiss Backchannel Claims as ‘Delusions’
Hossein Mohebi, spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) — the elite military branch of the Islamic Republic of Iran — has strongly rejected recent statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump claiming the existence of unofficial communication channels between the IRGC and the United States.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Mohebi categorically denied any such interactions, saying: "No negotiations are currently taking place between IRGC representatives and Americans. Trump is lying; it’s pure fantasy — driven by illusions and nightmares stemming from defeat in the war and despair."
Mohebi’s remarks come in response to earlier comments by Trump, who alleged that Washington maintains contact with the IRGC through informal, off-the-record channels. The IRGC spokesman dismissed the assertion as baseless and a product of political desperation, linking the claim to what he described as U.S. military setbacks and strategic failures in the region.
