Iran Expresses Skepticism Over U.S. Intentions Ahead of Potential Talks

April 16

Tehran remains cautious about the prospect of upcoming negotiations with the United States, despite recent reports from American media suggesting talks could take place this weekend. According to Tasnim News Agency, Iranian officials doubt the sincerity and goodwill of the U.S., citing past breaches of promise at the start of previous negotiations and ongoing failures to uphold commitments.

Iran has conveyed through a Pakistani mediator that the U.S. must first honor its obligations and refrain from exaggerations during the negotiation process. While the Pakistani mediator is pushing for a second round of talks, Iran insists that such discussions will be futile unless proper preparations are completed and a clear framework is established beforehand.

This stance underscores Tehran’s deep mistrust of Washington’s negotiating approach and signals potential challenges ahead for any renewed diplomatic engagement.
