Iran Has Yet to Respond to Latest US Proposal Despite US Media Reports of Progress

In an interview with the ISNA news agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Baghaei said, “Iran is still reviewing the US proposal, and once Tehran finalizes its position, it will communicate its response to the Pakistani side.”

Further elaborating on Tehran’s perspective in a separate post on X, Baghaei emphasized the importance of international law in negotiations. He explained, “Negotiations require ‘good faith,’ meaning that they should not be confused with ‘disputation,’ nor should they involve ‘dictation,’ ‘deception,’ ‘extortion,’ or ‘coercion.’”

Iranian officials have consistently criticized the United States for its approach to the talks, accusing the White House of attempting to impose conditions rather than engaging in sincere, reciprocal dialogue.

Despite reports from American media suggesting progress toward a one-page preliminary agreement, Iranian media have indicated that Iran has yet to respond to the latest US proposal.

Baghaei underscored that the very essence of ‘negotiations’ demands, at a minimum, a genuine effort to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at resolving the dispute.
