Iran Reports Steady Oil Production Amid US Blockade Attempts on Tankers
Iran’s Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad stated that the country sustained consistent crude oil production throughout the recent 40-day conflict, which began on February 28, despite attacks on some energy facilities and rising tensions near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that the oil sector remained fully operational during this period. “Throughout the 40 days of war, our crude oil production saw virtually no decline, and our exports proceeded smoothly without any issues,” Paknejad affirmed.
Despite the blockade, shipping operations related to Iranian crude seem to be ongoing.
On Friday, tanker tracking service TankerTrackers reported that three empty cargo tankers from the National Iranian Tanker Company successfully crossed the US Navy blockade line after returning to Iran via Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone. Together, these vessels have the capacity to carry approximately five million barrels of Iranian crude oil, the report added.
