Iran to Close Strait of Hormuz to Ships from Nations Supporting the US

Iranian Army Spokesman Mohammad Akraminia declared that vessels from countries aligning with the United States’ sanctions against Iran will no longer be permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz. In an interview with IRNA, he stated, “From now on, countries that follow the United States in imposing sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran will undoubtedly encounter difficulties passing through the Strait of Hormuz.”

Akraminia highlighted that ongoing military tensions with the US and Israel have compelled Iran to leverage the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that the Islamic Republic is now fully “exercising sovereignty” over the waterway. He further noted that any vessel seeking passage must coordinate its movements with Iran, emphasizing that these new regulations “could bring Iran many benefits.”
