Iran War Has Created the Largest Energy Security Threat Ever

April 23

Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA), told CNBC on Thursday that we are currently facing the most significant energy security threat in history. He explained, “As of now, we have lost 13 million barrels of oil per day, and there are major disruptions affecting critical commodities.”

Previously, Birol warned that the conflict involving Iran and the ongoing closure of the Strait of Hormuz could trigger the largest energy crisis ever experienced. He urged governments to strengthen their energy resilience by investing in alternative sources.
