Iran has issued a firm warning to the United States, vowing swift and decisive retaliation if the United States take any action that threatens Iran’s energy infrastructure. In an statement Iran’s Acting Oil Minister Hamid Bovard said:
“We will respond immediately and appropriately to any US threat to Iranian energy facilities,” . He framed the potential for conflict as an extension of broader US policy that has destabilized global markets. “The war that the United States started by ignoring international norms has affected the energy sector globally,” he added, accusing Washington of violating established protocols in its approach to international relations.
Bovard did not specify the precise nature of the likely retaliation but emphasized that any response would be calculated and strategic. “We will take precise and appropriate retaliatory measures at the right time to counter enemy threats,” he said, reinforcing the notion that Iran’s response would not be hasty but would be designed to inflict maximum strategic effect at an opportune moment.
The comments by Bovard are not new and Iran has previously clearly specified its long-standing position that any attack on its economic or energy lifelines, including oil production, refineries, or shipping routes, would be treated as an act of war, triggering a broader regional confrontation
