Iranian Parliament Member Issues Military Warning to US Over Naval Blockade of Iran
Iranian lawmaker Ali Hazarian has declared that Iran’s military will respond to any US attempts to impose a naval blockade on the Islamic Republic. According to Hazarian, as reported by Fars news agency, any US naval blockade efforts will now provoke a direct military reaction from Iran. He also suggested that the US should equip its destroyers with additional support vessels to protect their crews in the event of Iranian attacks.
Tensions in the Gulf escalated sharply on May 7, when the US and Iran exchanged military strikes. Iranian state television reported that the conflict began with a US attack on an Iranian tanker, followed by Iran targeting three American destroyers near the Strait of Hormuz. Subsequently, the US Central Command launched a series of strikes against Iranian military sites.
