Russia Warns Britain of 'Consequences' Over Drone Supplies to Ukraine

Russia warned Britain on Tuesday that it would face repercussions for providing drones to Ukraine that have been used to strike targets inside Russian territory.

The Russian embassy in London was responding to a report in The Times newspaper on Saturday, which claimed that British-made drones had been deployed for long-range attacks against Russia for the first time.

"London's actions will inevitably have consequences, for which it will have to answer," the embassy said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.

Ukraine has been using long-range drones to strike oil refineries and logistics infrastructure. Britain's Ministry of Defence did not confirm whether British-made drones had been used.

In June, Britain announced it would supply 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a £752 million ($996 million) funding package.

When asked about the Russian embassy’s comments, a British defense ministry spokesperson said that Britain stands firmly with Ukraine and is committed to providing the equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself against Russia.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale war with Ukraine in 2022, Moscow has repeatedly warned Britain and other Western allies that their support for Kyiv—including the supply of military equipment—could trigger retaliatory measures and heighten the risk of a broader conflict.

Iran won't Reopen Strait of Hormuz Until US Meets Its Demands

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced on Tuesday that the Strait of Hormuz will stay shut until the blockade and oil embargo are lifted and that US adhere fully to the  the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and meets Iran demands. He warned that Tehran is ready to deliver a “more severe defeat” to any party that continues acts of aggression or threats against Iran.

Ghalibaf framed the Iranian people's victory as clear evidence of the United States’ failure, describing it as a manifestation of Washington’s setback under what he called the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He stated that the outcome of the latest confrontation showed that the U.S. had not achieved its goals.

He also emphasized that Iran “will never compromise over the blood of the martyred Iranian leader and the country’s martyrs,” vowing that the aggressors would face punishment and that the Islamic Republic would emerge triumphant from this historic trial.
