US LNG exports reached a record level in March due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East

In March 2026, the United States achieved a new milestone by exporting a record 573.5 billion cubic feet (16.2 billion cubic meters) of liquefied natural gas (LNG), driven largely by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to the latest monthly report from the US Department of Energy. This surge in exports highlights the growing global demand for US LNG as countries seek to diversify their energy sources amid geopolitical uncertainties. Europe emerged once again as the primary recipient of these supplies, receiving approximately 62% of the total US LNG exports. Meanwhile, shipments to Asia experienced a significant increase, doubling compared to previous periods, reflecting the region's expanding energy needs and strategic efforts to secure reliable fuel sources
