US to penalize entities imposing tolls for Hormuz Strait — Treasury Secretary
The US Treasury Department will take action against any attempts to establish a toll system for vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz, stated US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
In a post on X, he emphasized, "The United States Government will not accept any initiative to implement tolls in the Strait of Hormuz." He further warned, "Oman, in particular, should be aware that the US Treasury will vigorously target anyone involved—whether directly or indirectly—in supporting such tolls, and all collaborators will face penalties."
