Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday that damage to energy infrastructure over an extended period had left electricity supplies across several regions in a difficult condition.
In a statement on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy reported strikes on thermal power plants in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv. He also said four electrical substations in Dnipropetrovsk Region had been damaged.
“The situation with power supplies in our regions is difficult,” Zelenskyy said. He estimated that about 200,000 households in Dnipropetrovsk and the surrounding region were without electricity, along with more than 80,000 households in Kyiv Region.
The reported outages affect households across multiple areas in Ukraine, though the statement did not specify how long repairs might take or when power could be restored. Russia has been striking the Ukraine energy facilities and describing them as sites used to support the operational needs of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex.
