Iran Reopens Hormuz Strait Amid Ceasefire; No Military Ships Allowed, Toll Required

April 17

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that commercial shipping may continue through the Strait of Hormuz throughout the ceasefire. Providing further detail, parliament member Ali Khazrian noted that this excludes military vessels and any ships or cargo associated with hostile states. Additionally, transit now requires coordination with the IRGC, adherence to Iranian-mandated shipping lanes, and the payment of tolls to acknowledge Iran's maritime authority.
